THE FILM
"I not only knew that I wanted to
be a lawyer, but I knew that I
never wanted to make any money."
From wrestling mats to courtroom clashes with 'America's Mayor,'"The Good Fight" chronicles award-winning civil rights lawyer Armen Merjian’s relentless battle for justice, housing, and dignity for the most marginalized.
Set against the backdrop of New York City, the film delves into Armen's incredible career, particularly his David-and-Goliath confrontation with Mayor Giuliani's administration. This quintessential New York story highlights themes of resilience, justice, and the fight against systemic inequalities, underscoring the importance of never giving up the good fight.
Given the recent suspension of global HIV treatment funds by the Trump administration, our film's narrative has become even more timely and significant.

DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT
Storytelling has the power to connect, to illuminate, and to inspire action.

The Good Fight tells the story of civil rights attorney Armen Merjian, whose relentless advocacy has transformed the lives of New York City’s most marginalized communities. For 36 years—28 of them with Housing Works—Armen has fought to secure housing, dignity, and healthcare for individuals living with HIV/AIDS. His unwavering commitment demonstrates the profound impact one person can have in the fight for justice.
In the face of global rollbacks on HIV treatment funding, rising extremism, and deepening polarization, this story feels more urgent than ever. The Good Fight is both a call to action and a beacon of hope, reminding us that change is possible when we refuse to stand by.
Armen’s journey also shows that advocacy is not only about struggle, but about resilience, joy, and even humor. His sharp wit and optimism disarm and invite people into difficult conversations, proving there is space for laughter and connection—even in the fight for equality.
This film is deeply personal to me. It is inspired not only by Armen’s work and our friendship, but also by the memory of my dear friend Brian Bob, who lived with HIV and dedicated his life to protecting homeless youth until his passing. Their resilience reminds us all that we each have a role to play in bending the arc toward justice.
Finally, I want to acknowledge that this film would not have been possible without the passion, talent, and dedication of our dream team, who worked tirelessly on a micro-budget but with extraordinary heart. It truly takes a village—and now, more than ever, we must rise together.
